Bishopric Message
My Dear 3rd Ward Brothers and Sisters
We made it! The dark colder months are behind us, and the Spring General Conference is upon us! This means we have an amazing opportunity to hear the words of The Lord through our nearly 100-year-old prophet. I hope you are as excited about this as I am. Well, mine is twofold - me and Brother Teddy get to go one more week without shaving....
This time of year always sets the tone to begin again with the celebration of the resurrection of our Beloved Savior with Easter weekend, and the new flowers, leaves, and seeds are beginning to spring forth and shed their wintery hibernation. How truly blessed we are!
How amazing the opportunities we have that our ancestors didn't! As we were reading our family scriptures earlier this week we read in Mosiah 15:11 - "Behold I say unto you, that whosoever has heard the words of the prophets, yea, all the holy prophets who have prophesied concerning the coming of the Lord- I say unto you, that all those who have hearkened unto their words, and believed that the Lord would redeem His people, and have looked forward to that day for a remission of their sins, I say unto you, that these are his seed, or they are the heirs of the kingdom of God."
I re-read that one twice with my littles to emphasize what that scripture just said.
I plead with you to take some time to begin again. Re-align yourself on the covenant path with whatever that looks like for you. Whether it is reading your scriptures more, praying more frequently, participating in church on Sundays, or attending the Temple! Just like spring allows for new beginnings so does the precious blood of the atonement of which we all have part.
And speaking of temples... We will have our temple back soon! The dedication will take place on the 21st of April and if you would like your youth (over 8 years old) to be a part of this special day they will need to have a limited use recommend or their temple recommend.
With love
Brother Ryan Barclay
